matwonk got a reaction from dings90 in What's in a name?
My "name" or "Gamertag" started nearly 20 years ago, I was in elementary school playing an old Windows 95 game on the school's computers. I got a high score on the game and was typing in my "high store" and typed in matwonk. I was trying to type in "Matt Won" but a teacher was coming close to seeing my computer and I had to type quickly. I ended up missing a t and a space and hit k at the end. One of my friends later saw it and thought it was funny. I kind of thought it was a cool nickname so I used it whenever I filled out a high score on a game. Later on when I got into online games I used it as my username/gamertag. People online always thought I was chinese,(I'm not). it took me a while to realize it was because of the wonk at the end of my gamertag. I've used that tag for years now.

Honestly I saw that too on my phone but all apps using maps/gps functionality are battery hogs, there really is no way around it. The game wouldn't be as responsive and work correctly if they tried to increase battery efficiency in QONQR. But yes, QONQR Black would probably help out quite a it, it just won't be as fun to play.

Agreed, I was never in the first Atlantis but this was the best one by far for me. I think the shorted time span really made a difference it made it so that the zones weren't stacked up to high and the shorted match time made it so that players didn't get bored or distracted.
We knew we were close Desideratus that's why we fought so hard in the last few hours and I think that's what made the gameplay so fun in the last day. It was definitely one **** of a game, best fun I've had in QONQR so far. Only thing I wish would have happened differently was I wish we could have held a couple more zones at the end to really show how close the match really was between Faceless and Legion, but that's how the game goes, I knew it would come down to the last few minutes.
GG all hope to see everyone again next month.
Just to show how close it was I took a few screen shots before the end of the match, this one was taken about 70 minutes before the end:

matwonk got a reaction from lordkikuta in When is QONQR Blue coming?
Agreed, it's better to wait and have patience than have them rush the release and have it not be to par. I was just hoping there would be at list 1 more small update before the release, something to kind of tie us over. Gold Status was a really nice addition, It created a new goal in the game. However now that I have hit Gold Status 7 times in a row its not as, for lack of a better term, "fun", as it was when it was first released. It would be nice if there was a few more challenges, like new metals or some sort of tweak to atlantis to make it more of an incentive for players to play.

Your only auto sync locked if you opt to be in the portal. Some people don't check the box in order to "Hide their spending habits" as the developers put it.
Anyways.. I'm going to side with the developers on this one. Sync lock is an programmatic algorithm, so its not going to be able to detect everything that a "human" would be able to detect with common sense knowledge. Your basically saying that a computer algorithm programmed into a game should be "smarter" than human common sense. For instance perhaps this is a husband and wife both playing QONQR, this is something a human could able to determine. I know someplayers who got their spouse to play, in some cases they may play different factions and in other cases they may play on the same team. Basically what your describing is what everyone is already complaining about with Sync Lock, it lacks the "Human" common sense on whether or not a player is really multiscoping or is a roommate, sponse, or just someone in the same apartment complex. So even though you feel that you have "proven" that this player was a multiscoper, there really is not way to know for sure.

matwonk got a reaction from brussel in Swarm on Atlantis -> Honoring The Ultimate Battlefield
I'm torn between both sides of the argument. On one hand Earit is right, I mean there are a lot of Legion players who don't play in atlantis and we don't necessarily call them boycotters. They have similar reasons for not playing, they can't justify losing zones to enemies while playing in Atlantis, most of our strongest players don't ever play in atlantis. Earit your right, if Legion had a lot more participation, especially some of our most strongest and dedicated players, we'd probably win every time in Atlantis.
While on the other hand I think the argument from faceless that they are not boycotting, set that their just defending their zones during atlantis doesn't make sense either. I think its more than just a few Faceless players deciding not to play because they either want to better their local area or defend their local area. If that were the case we'd see just a little less faceless activity at atlantis, but instead we see almost no activity. That's all the evidence we need to know that it's not just a select group of faceless players deciding not to play, its an intentional boycott likely brought on by Faceless leaders and spread amongst their ranks.
And last, I do agree with the need to increase incentive to play in atlantis to justify the resources and time spend in the battle. I know there were discussions to increase harvest capacity to the winning team and some other rewards. I think doing more to help increase participation would be nice.

Honestly, when I first started I was all alone as Legion as well in Iowa. Legion controlled only 5% of my state's zones and basically all of those legion zones were controlled by dead players. Now I control about 20%+ of my state's zones and Legion in general in my state now controls about 35% of the zones. It takes time, it took me about 7 months to get this far and I did eventually recruit some new gamers to help the Legion cause in my area. So basically just keep at it, you'll gain a foothold eventually as you level up and upgrade. Recruiting some players to help the cause always helps too. Also, if you do plan on buying cubes, buy a lot upfront. I made the mistake of purchasing smaller cube packs as I was leveling up and upgrading, if I could go back and do it again I would have bought one of the larger packs right upfront, I would have ended up saving more in the end. Sometime purchasing cubes is necessary to gain a strong foothold in an area, especially if your greatly outnumbered. Also build up a lot of bases as soon as you can and harvest often.

I keep forgetting to post a note that we sent our money to ALS. I did the accounting this morning, which reminded me I still needed to tell everyone.
We got fewer than 50 ice bucket challenge videos posted on the site, but we decided to round up to 100 and made $1000 donation to ALS research.
Thank you to those who posted videos. It was very cool to see the players challenge each other, and you helped support a great cause.

matwonk got a reaction from QONQRD in No Limit Cubing, is it fair?
That player in particular, DodgyArab, must be spending in the upper thousands of dollars from what I saw in past Atlantis games. He was hitting zones none-stop with refresh packs. I swear he must never sleep or work either. In the Atlantis from 2 months ago he all but took down an entire zone with 10 million bot zone by himself.
I think cubing should be allowed obviously its what pays for the game and for the most part I think that part of the game should stay as is. But maybe some high limit that would prevent extreme cases like this from happening. Something like after and hour of nonstop refresh packs you hit a Refresh Pack Overheat that lasts for a few hours that would prevent refresh packs from being used.
I can see how the developers would be worried about limiting cubing as it might anger high spenders, but consider this. Say this player causes 10 or more players to leave the game and 2 or 3 of those players buy cubes and use them within a reasonable amount, well then your losing those 2 - 3 potential spenders because they now feel the game is hopeless and feel like their use of cubes was a waste.

I too will MOURN for those fallen faceless in Atlantis. Not that I'm pro faceless or anything but I do respect anyone who fights a good fight when outnumbered rather than just giving up. AKA the faceless who stood and fought rather then just throwing in the towel right away like most of the faceles did. I always like a good underdog story.
