Can we talk about the QONQR servers, please?

Recommended Posts

For days, QONQR has been intermittently unresponsive. Logins have failed, deploys are a crapshoot as to whether they'll work or not, and harvesting is like playing a slot machine.

I get error "161 Player record failed on update" and "An unknown error has occurred" over and over again. And I'm not the only one, as this seems to be happening to lots of us.

This behavior from QONQR is extremely frustrating, as it makes defending or attacking zones difficult as you never know when your scope is just going to crâp the bed, and not deploy.

Harvesting has been a nightmare too. It seems that it doesn't regenerate consistently anymore. This also adds to the frustration of trying to purchase and use ordinance tactically.

I've spent way more on QONQR purchasing Qubes, than any other game I play—ever. So it would be great to at least hear from someone in charge, here on the forums, as not all of us use Twitter (or smoke signals or whatever) to glean info on QONQR's current status.

I really hope there's an end to this janky behavior with QONQR's servers, because I don't see how this can go on without disenfranchising the player base.

Silver's posted somewhere about the game originally only being built for X amount of activity/players, I don't know squat about coding etc but when you consider Qonqr activity from all of us 24/7 even a technologically challenged person like me realizes how much work it must take to get something like this running smooth. I guess the large increase in new players is having an effect. This kind of thing has happened before and a new update was released which sorted it a treat. Sit tight,be patient Im sure the devs are on it. :-)

Before you get upset and call for dev answers, remember that they're not a huge company with hundreds of support specialists ready and waiting. Server down time is an unfortunate consequence of any player vs. player online game. It happens to the largest of companies (ie. Riot Games, Blizzard, Activision, Sony) and effects the smallest even further because of the lack of resources. Qonqr is growing, and it's growing fast, not to mention the fact that yesterday was Silver's birthday on top of everything else. The devs understand that you've put time and money into this game, and they're working hard to get things back to normal while optimizing the servers. Hang tight, if you've ever played a game like League of Legends you know that 1-2 days of server issues is nothing compared to the occasional week of downtime that occurs. Silver's presence on the forums is far more than that of most game CEO's, and he works hard to keep everything running smoothly.

I have not read all the posts, ever, about QONQR. So when there are current issues, it would be nice to see them at least acknowledged by Silver, or someone in the know. I bet there are tons of people who are very confused as to what is going on.

Part of the addictive nature of the game is in the rapid way zones can switch rapidly, and reaction and organization times can be critical in holding or taking a zone. The issues are seriously hampering that experience.

"Sitting tight" is easier when there's a bit more info. I understand there is going to be apologists, but I don't think that cuts the mustard when there are paying customers, ya dig?

No fair you tricked me into logging into my Twitter account I never check. Didn't help me at all. Which direction should I look for these smoke signals??? I got nothing better to to while the game is down. :D

The game is free. Paying or not paying, server issues effect everyone equally. If you're upset, voice your concerns with support. Downtime happens, there's not much to really be said one way or another. The more time devs spend posting here the less time they spend working to resolve the issue. We all know about the same amount, that they're working on stabilizing them.

No one is attacking Silver... It's just that it's even more important for a small game to communicate with it's players than a large one. Has there ever been DAYS of server downtime in LoL without a word from anyone who's a part of the game? No, of course not. They know they would lose business if they allowed their game to be down for days without saying anything. I do not doubt for a second that everyone who works for the QONQR team is doing everything they can to get things back up and running. I would just feel better if I had some sort of official announcement stating the obvious.

Actually there has, or when the answer to issues comes, it comes after the issues have been resolved. Best to wait for an answer to the issues or contact support directly.

I am not here to give anyone business advice. And while the game is free, it is meant to be a money-maker. These continuous server issues are not going to help the success of this game if they continue. Preach all you want about how "free" the game is all you want. That doesn't mean we should just expect service to be crâppy. I know I wouldn't want people to have low expectations just because a game is "free-to-play". Or maybe I'm just older, and remember when people had higher expectation from the things they enjoy, I don't know.

i think people are frustrated because the issue is not affecting everyone equally. it's not the same as "the servers are down for 24 hours for maintenance". it is more like what happened at the gym today where my friend next to me could launch but i couldnt, and then 30 min later it switched and all of a sudden i got in and he couldnt get past the login failure.

if they want to bring down the server for maintenance that's fine, but people are getting mad probably because they're at war and now the opponent can play and they cant, or anything really. if i know NO ONE can play then that is fair and i'll go about my day and wait for twitter to buzz saying the servers are back up.

I would like to weigh in my two cents to this issue.

I normally do not spend any money on free games, but this is one addicting game that has compelled me to splurge on 2 occasions. However, due to the recent instability of servers and hearing about numerous incidents, I have begun to lose trust in spending anymore money. Take for example last night. I was trading in 4 cubes, when I hit the "authentication failed" msg, and when I tried it again, the game registered that I traded in twice, but only gave me qredits for one trade.

While I am very impressed at Silver's quick response, the concern here is real. While more experienced players understand that QONQR used to run more smoothly when it was smaller, new players who encounter errors like this will lose interest in the game, which is bad for everyone, QONQR's team as well as players. It is great that the CEO personally handles the support emails, but sooner or later, there will be too many people with complaints and it will be impossible to put out all those fires. Even though Silver responded quickly to my email, what if it happens again in the future when there are a lot more QONQR players?

QONQR is, more than any other game, a time sensitive game. Good timing is everything here: in deployments, in harvesting credits, in putting up a defense in the middle of a battle, in exchange rate. Also, since it is a location based game, timing is very important, as sometimes people are only in an area for a limited amount of time. These server issues really messes up everyone's timing and strategy.

Any response from the devs that eases our concerns would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for putting out such a great mobile game. Everybody on this forum is here to support you and we just want it to gain more customers!

It'll get fixed. If there's no one official to explain what's going on then, judging from past game issues, it means something is getting done. Its far better to come along with a reason, an apology and a fix than just apologies.

Totally agree with this...you can't help but be frustrated when your opponent is capturing your zones and you can't do **** about it....It's something you can't control...

Yes, I also agree...servers should be taken offline because it's not affecting everyone. And gives certain people an advantage when others can't do anything about it!

I have been watching activity on the windows 8 command center. When I can't launch there is no activity so I believe it is affecting everyone at the same time
