What Should Happen to Atlantis Now?

Recommended Posts

The boat from Spain to Africa goes pretty much right over the base. I did earlier this year - if I'd know Atlantis was lurking underneath I could have started deploying so at least we had a chance against the huge faceless numbers....

I understand your point about the same side winning every time eventually getting boring, but at the same time, why give it your all if you know it will count against you the next time? Wouldn't it be a "better win" if it was done on your own teams merits and not because you had a little bit of an edge?

but by virtue of having the greater numbers we already have an edge

New to the forum, been playing for almost a year. Never deployed to atlantis, I care more about the local zones and not the global zones. When I first heard about Atlantis, and even now, people say out in the middle of the ocean. It is not, it is in the strait of Gibraltar. This to me seemed like a really good place to put it because of military and economic strategy of the zone. If there are future zone like this I would like to see more of this. May be Panama Canal, English Channel, Suez Canal, Bering Strait, Cape of Good Hope, Maybe even some land zones like the Cumberland Gap. Just throwing it out there.

Hehe..do your doody as Faceless. Sorry couldn't resist..on to more serious matters!

I think the idea of Atlantis as a constant zone is great..but, lets "face" (see what I did there) it, Faceless have the edge. I would propose that, instead of everyone having range constantly, the zone has to be within normal ranges for all launches..and moves. Rather than have it be sporadic or secret..put it on a set path around the world. Pick a spot on the globe and start moving it east or west 801 miles every 24 hours. Once around the globe..move it north or south 801 miles with a 400 mile east/west offset and repeat.

I don't know if it would be possible..hope you have some good map skills Silver and Gadgerson..but this limits the spam Faceless game, makes global planning and coordination more necessary and challenging, will make support deployment more risky if able and still gives everyone, eventually, a shot at deployment of some sort.

It could be cleared once every month, quarterly, yearly..whichever..with a "prize" of some sort for participants of the more active/dominant faction. Perhaps a new badge similar to Ypress Peace or something along those lines..Atlantis Qonqror achievement maybe.

Oh..and speaking as a merc..we could be locked in to our chosen faction for the 24 hour period the zone is in play for the sake of the achievement. We deploy as that chosen faction and if that faction wins in the end..so do we. As a merc, I'd be willing to give up switching factions for 24 hours to participate..I'd hope others would to. Not only that..but mercenaries could play a pivotal role in this scenario..since we could switch to help/hinder the weaker/stronger side when the zone enters our play area.

Just an idea..

Okay i get the fact that faceless outnumber all the other legions and I also get the idea of Atlantis being a mythical place that can be moved and etc. But in my short time of playing i have learned there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I have been a lone faceless in my zone for a while, I have less than 70% upgrades, missing one base, and half of the bases i have are under legion control. In the past there have been cities taken from me by 2 or 3 locals and another 3 or 4 people deploying nanos. So the talk about how the faceless outnumber the legion i can understand because they outnumber me in my zones. So how did i come to have over 100 zone leads and recently move my line 15 miles south? By mass number of deployments and falling multiply cities before I start to defend them.

ey

The fact of the matter is that when there is only one city in play the winner will be decided by 3 things amount of play time, % of upgrades, and amount of allies. Sence people play at there own pace and you can not affect playtime any more fairly than they have, and most people have 100% upgrades it comes down to amount of allies. So no matter resets, moving, or sanctions against or for factions the faceless will come out on top. The only way i see to prevent this is the same thing that allows me to make moves, mass number of zones. if you were to take the millions of bots deployed and split them among 15 or 20 "Atlantis's" than the number would be small enough that all three factions could have opportunities to grab at the very least one of these zones.

Then to complicate it further if there is a reward, then base it on the importance of the "Atlantis city" and what faction controls the normal zones around this city. So just because faceless take the "Atlantis city" the reward will not be as great or even there if the the majority of regular zones around the Atlantis zone is under another faction control. This would force the factions to pick and chose what zones to take and also other factions the ability to attack the winning teams reward with out having to take control of the Atlantis zone.

The reward is easy a low % upgrade of value of harvesting in zones controlled by your faction.

sorry, Just my 2 cents.

Well, the first month is almost over. I have to say, I've enjoyed having something to attack when the locals aren't fighting. Personally I hate staqing, so I'd rather toss a scope up against the wall in Atlantis then staq. Still, it got out of hand quickly and hasn't felt like a long term deal. But after all the cubes spent, I think deleting it would be rough.

What I would love to see, is a cube free zone like this. No booster bots, no lattice, no refreshes. Just plain old attack and deflect. Would be curious to see a battle that can't be bought. Like someone else mentioned, it would be nice to keep adding new ones and not delete any. More resources needed would spread it out and make it even more fun worldwide.

Well if qonqr really wanted to make money, they could just move the zone to an underdog zone at the beginning of every month and make it so all bots are restricted to their usual radius except nanos.

So if you take the 37m zone and put it in a moldy zone where lots of local swarm could hit it with regular bots, they could work on taking it out, and faceless would be throwing nanos to stop it. Lots of cubes for the qonqr team, the leading faction will most likely eventually lose out, but if they get beat bad enough, they can always have the option to be the underdog and take it over again.

I would like to keep the zone as it is. With local enemies essentially being a non-issue there wasn't much left for me to do except to grind for the hidden achievements, which was proving to be the slowest grind ever. With Atlantis, I now have a chance to rack up kills and stack up some nice D to show everyone I'm still here. It's fun watching the cycles of massive strikes and new leaders popping up.

Hello All,

Sorry, only read a few of the last entries, and didn't even learn about Atlantis till a week after. Well that's not totally true, someone sent me a message but I ignored it as a prank, so bad on me. Anyway, I say let Faceless keep it they earned it. If you make a new one though set a max bot limit of say 2 million....this way it stays a battle ground. But don't take a way a well deserved victory of the current base.

Hi, I have to be honest I did not deploy there a lot. Still it was nice to have a new activity, especially one that brought hundreds of faceless around the world together in one Groupme channel. I think I spent more time just reading the chat then anything else, I liked the social part the most, was fun! Thank you.

Overall I don't have any major complaints about Atlantis and the way it is ran.

I have been a part of 2 of the trial runs and am looking forward to the real launch this time around.

My only real issue is that I think there are too many cooresponding zones. 18 plus the actual Atlantis Prime zone is a bit over the top in my opinion.

But because I don't want to whine without offering a suggestion - here's my idea:

Keep the bottom 3 zone ideas (Grunt, Melee, Clover) but instead of having the additional 3 to name the top 3 participants for each faction, just mash them all together.

Name the top 3 for each faction but keep the Grunt, Melee and Clover uniqueness to each of the zones. I think by now those who have participated know which zone is which by what order they are placed in - to this way we can limit the number of places to battle for (increased activity in each zone) but we get to keep the cool twist that each one brings.

This would cut the active zones in half (down to 9 for our math wizs) plus Atlantis, which would make the battle a little more intense I think.

Just my 2 cents ^_^

IS there actually any point to having different zones for different factions? I am so lost about what it means and why. Do we fight for all of them? I'm not even sure it is worth me asking.

I like the additional zones and the unique variety they offer, personally.

Before I capped I would deploy strictly in Grunt. I think that zone offers a small stage for newer players to duke it out against each other without getting crushed by fully upgraded and leveled competition. Helps them get their name out there and it's a good way to gain XP by the bucket load.

I also really like Melee. No ordnance, just bots. True strategy in my opinion.

My issue is just with the number of additional zones. There's too many. It feels like a chore having keep up with those PLUS the Prime zone.

i had fun on the first atlantis when it was one single king of the hill style zone. now with wait times and all the different rules i havent bothered to even find it let alone launch there.

one zone was pretty fun, 18 or more? nah, i'll stick to my favorite 21 base zones if that's the case.

I think you caught my drift.

To clarify: I like the uniqueness to Grunt, Melee, and Clover, but I think in order to condescence the size of Atlantis they could be named after the top 3 for each faction. Keep the uniqueness, show appreciation to the top contributors. Everyone wins

I have thought hard about Atlantis and rewards, and I feel strongly that "finding an Atlantis zone" should only be rewarded with a single rank point (+1).

The notion of awarding eight rank points (+8) is simply not equitable to: a) destroying 10 million bots (Annihilator); b ) recruiting 10 new players who complete training (Champion); c) harvesting 5 million resources (Industrialist); d) buying 100% of scope upgrades (Commando); e) or buying 1,000 ordinance (Specialist).

Given the above, I strongly recommend that "finding an Atlantis zone" be rewarded with only one rank point (+1). Again, I feel very strongly about this issue.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment...

I feel like Atlantis has taken over as a bigger part of rhe game than it should. I feel this way because of the length. 15 days out of every month is just too much IMO. I would suggest to shorten it to under a week or have it once a quarter. I think Atlantis being active for half of every month takes away from the local based game aspect.

dings its been said before dude, atlantis is there especially for people that have nothing going on locally. if you shorten it for them and that's the only action they see then you may lose those players.

also, it takes the attention away from home for those users that have massive empires but still want to play in atlantis... they have to pick and choose how they play, and if they're away from home and overheated b/c of atlantis then it gives the little up and comers a chance to build and enjoy the game without getting flattened by the overpowered super user.

could always do different lengths.

fantasy football has week long seasons that are fast paced as well as traditional seasons that coincide with the actual football schedule.

so could have a short and a normal running side by side, the the short one being more frequent?
