Windows 8 Command Center

Recommended Posts

And now I finally have a reason to upgrade my poor beleagured laptop. My wife will be so happy that even more of my time is sucked up pushing deploy over and over and over and over and ... now that I think of it maybe my wife is right ... I should look in to that ... right after I take over this node, and maybe the other one over there.

In addition to the bug where zones don't appear unless you zoom in or out, my map also does not display any call out boxes with activity. I tested this by deploying and seeing if anything popped up. The app says there is an "Update" but then nothing really displays. No asterisk or anything. Also, may I suggest that rather than every 2 minutes we can have some interval that is more useful? Ideally, it would be nice to set the interval to display all activity within a monitored zone. I cant sit there and stare at it every 2 minutes. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that my map is not displaying any zone activity or call outs....

The callout is an issue with the mapping control, I will attempt to work with Microsoft on this in the next couple weeks. The 2 minute interval will likely be adjusted in the next release as we watch the usage of the application and the performance impact of the constant hits to our database.

Thanks for the feedback.

On 2nd thought, the lack of call outs when you are zoomed in to your local area of interest levels the playing field a bit. If such detailed information is known, a lesser level player loses the ability to silently chip away and soften bigger foes. There has been active discussion on how to support lower level players. Please consider this point when making changes. Maybe at least just show the bot depletion for those attacked but not reveal the faction attacking or their gains?? Just thinking out loud for my junior peeps. BTW I recruited 2 and they are addicted. Just listening to their feedback. Thanks.

Thanks, Silver, but... when I click [View in Windows Store] I still get nothing. Maybe some limitations for international users?

I still had an ancient American Windows Live account and used that instead of my current Dutch Windows Live account. Now the QONQR Command Center was available in the Windows 8 Store. So it must definitely be some localization thing. Can you please fix that?

I have the app on both my Surface and My desktop. As others - I would like the ability in the future to adjust my timing and number of zones return - I understand why you did it though. I work for a hosting company that is very startup friendly - if you would like me to get you in touch with someone just let me know.

I also want to get a screen shot for sheer hilarities sake. My desktop is a triple monitor system running two gForce 680's in SLI mode - so my native resolution is something like 5700 x 1650... since the app launches full screen - it covers all three monitors with bing maps and gives you an itty bitty scan zone. I'll do a screen shot when I get home. I could probably pull data for the entire US and have it show just fine.

How many downloads of Command center have you had? Only 8 people have rated it, and it seems like more than 8 people have commented on it in this thread.

If you are one of those people, please rate the app! It takes 15 seconds of your day, and will help improve awareness of the game.

I so badly wanted to have the ability to capture a screen shot of the map so you could share it. It was the very first thing I went to do once I got the map working. Unfortunately, Microsoft removed the ability to get an image from the screen from inside the application (which is available for WPF, Windows Phone and Silverlight apps) for Windows Store apps. I can't believe it isn't there. Such a missed opportunity for us to do awesome social sharing.

I'll check on the international marketplace thing. I thought I had submitted to all the international markets that had the same usage rules as the US. The Middle East, China, and a few others with similar governments are typically the places where we can't submit.

Socialism is pretty much resuscitated here, yet it shouldn't be a problem to submit here ;)

Hey, anyone with problems finding this on the store app? It doesn't appear when I search, and if I go through the web page link posted here it still won't open in the store app... :(
